What we rely on day to day
We rely on primary sources, official documents, named experts and direct observation, verified through a multi-step editorial process led by Chefredaktör Benjamin Richter and our team. Our practice is grounded in the principles set out in our editorial policy and fact-checking policy.
Our reporters and editors, including Politikredaktör Felix Jung, Wirtschaftreporter Petra Schuster, and Kultur- och samhällsredaktör Andreas Sommer, draw on a wide range of authoritative material: government publications, parliamentary records, court rulings, official statistics from agencies such as Statistiska centralbyrån, press conferences, academic research, and direct interviews with named sources. Where a source requests anonymity, we grant it only after rigorous assessment of the justification and with the approval of the Chefredaktör or Redaktionschef Stefanie Schmid.
Our fact‑checking unit, led by Vanessa Engels as Ansvarig för faktagranskning, cross‑references every factual claim against at least two independent sources where possible. Corrections are handled transparently under our corrections policy; any error that changes the meaning of a story is promptly corrected and the correction is noted at the foot of the article. Readers can always view the date and nature of any update.
We may use AI‑assisted tools for research, drafting, formatting, translation, metadata, headline options, summaries or transcription. However, all published editorial content is reviewed and approved by a human editor. AI is never used to generate quotes, sources, interviews, bylines, author experience or expert profiles. Commercial considerations never influence our editorial conclusions. Display advertising, affiliate links, sponsored content, newsletter sponsorships and content licensing fund our operations, but all such material is clearly labelled and separated from editorial content. How to challenge our reporting
If you believe our reporting contains an error or lacks balance, we encourage you to submit a formal complaint following our complaints procedure. We take every complaint seriously and aim to reply within five working days.
